Tax Preparation and Planning Fees

Every individual and business tax situation is different. Our fees reflect the forms, records, research, and planning needed for the work you ask us to do.

We discuss the expected scope and fee with you based on the information available. If new facts or additional work materially change that scope, we will discuss the change. Tax planning and return preparation may be separate engagements.

Contact RWF Tax Services to discuss your needs or schedule an appointment.

Individual Tax Returns

Your tax return should reflect the full picture of your year. We prepare and file individual returns and help you work through the documents and questions that apply to your situation.

That may include wages, retirement income, investments, self-employment, rental property, charitable giving, or changes in your family. We review what you provide, ask about missing or unusual items, and explain material decisions before the return is filed.

What to expect

We collect documents through our secure online process or by arrangement with our office. After preparation and review, you receive your return for review and signature. We then handle electronic filing and monitor the filing response.

Use the tax preparation checklist as a starting point, and schedule an appointment to talk with us.

Business Tax Returns

Business tax returns begin with good records and an understanding of how the business operates. RWF Tax Services prepares returns for small businesses, including sole proprietorships, partnerships, S corporations, and other entities as appropriate.

We review the financial information and supporting documents you provide, follow up on missing items, and address tax questions that affect both the business and its owners. We can also discuss estimated payments and planning opportunities during the year so important decisions are not left until filing time.

Preparing for your return

Common starting items include your year-end profit and loss statement, balance sheet when applicable, payroll and contractor information, asset purchases or sales, and records of estimated tax payments. We will provide a specific request based on your business.

Contact our office to discuss your business return or schedule an appointment.

Tax Planning

Tax planning gives you time to consider the tax effect of a decision before the return is due. We work with individuals and small business owners to estimate where they stand, compare practical options, and identify information needed before a recommendation can be made.

Planning conversations may address changes in income, estimated payments, retirement distributions and conversions, charitable giving, investments, or business activity. The work is tailored to your facts and objectives; a projection is a working estimate that can change as new information arrives.

Planning throughout the year

We can prepare annual and midyear forecasts and revisit a plan when circumstances change. We explain assumptions and tradeoffs so you can make an informed decision.

Schedule a planning conversation or contact us with a question.

Tax Preparation Checklist

Use this checklist as a starting point for gathering your tax information. Every return is different, so provide the items that apply to you and let us know when something is expected later. We may request additional records after reviewing your situation.

Start with the basics

  • For new clients, a copy of your most recently filed federal and state returns.
  • For returning clients, your completed RWF tax update form and any changes to contact information, dependents, or filing status.
  • Records of federal and state estimated tax payments and any prior-year tax payments made during the year.
  • Any IRS or state tax notices you received.

Income and accounts

  • Forms W-2, 1099, 1098, SSA-1099, and other tax forms you received.
  • Consolidated brokerage statements, investment sale details, and cryptocurrency transaction records when applicable.
  • Forms K-1 from partnerships, S corporations, estates, or trusts. Tell us if a K-1 is still pending.
  • Records for self-employment, business income, rental property, or the sale of a home or other property.
  • Retirement distributions, rollovers, Roth conversions, and inherited account information.

Deductions, credits, and changes

  • Mortgage interest, property taxes, charitable contributions, and other deductible expenses that may apply.
  • Education, child care, dependent care, and health insurance information, including Marketplace forms if applicable.
  • Business income and expense summaries, asset purchases or sales, and payroll or contractor records when applicable.
  • Details of major changes such as marriage, divorce, a new dependent, a move, retirement, an inheritance, or a new business.

Send documents securely

Use the secure document request or upload link provided by our office, or arrange to deliver documents in person. Please do not send Social Security numbers, bank details, or tax documents through ordinary email. If a document has not arrived yet, tell us what is pending so we can plan the next step.

Schedule an appointment or contact RWF Tax Services if you are unsure what to gather.
